Sea Flora
Rocky intercontinental societies
Algae are not the only plants that can be found in the sea! Specifically, in the first 100 meters of depth sail tiny organisms that photosynthesize, meaning that they convert energy from the sun and its carbon dioxide into oxygen and organic matter, which is multiplying. These organisms belong to the plankton, a class of organisms named so because they roam where the currents go. Plankton plants are called phytoplankton. All of these organisms naturally excrete the products of their metabolism. These, like the cells of dead organisms that disintegrate after death, begin to fall to the bottom in a form of dust that looks just like snow! Its name really is “sea snow”!
