Balls
Balls
The ball is an object which has been used in sports from antiquity until today. Its shape, form, size, and materials have varied greatly, meeting the needs of each sport or game. In this showcase three balls are presented, of different sizes and materials, corresponding to three Olympic sports. In particular, the small, yellow, fuzzy, and hard ball on the right corresponds to tennis and the slightly larger ball with the seams on the left corresponds to boccia and is called a “jack”. The boccia ball is white and smooth, it has seams and is filled with plastic granules. The larger ball, in the center, is made of rubber and corresponds to the Paralympic sport of goalball. It has two bells inside and it is exclusively played by people with partial or total loss of sight. You may move it around so as to hear the bells ring.
