Summer cinema theatre
Christos Petridis
“Summer Cinema Theater” (1996), presented at the “Riches of Cyprus” exhibition (1996), is an indicative example of the artistic practice of Christos Petridis (1958-2013). The work refers to a dreamlike and fairy world. The almost surreal scene depicts a lyrical path in the fantastic done in a playful manner. The use of different materials such as oil, acrylic, spray, as well as the metal structures highlight the special texture of the surfaces and the atmosphere of the scene. In this way, and with a title referring to the open air movie theatre to be often found in various places in Greece during the summer season, the work integrates the viewer into its structure.
