Perseus with the Head of Medusa (Gallery 548)
Return to the Medieval Gallery (no 305). You will need to take the stairs, or you can take elevators at either end of the corridor outside the restaurant from the Lehman Wing. Once you have returned to the Medieval Gallery, you will take the first door on your right. It’s a grand, arched doorway—one of a set of two—and it opens to galleries containing art and decorative objects from France. Now, glance at the opposite end of the galleries and the opposite end of this traverse, the following artwork you’ll be viewing is framed in the arched doorway, illuminated by the natural light admitted by the many windows of the Carroll and Milton Petrie European Sculpture Court. This grand, luminous space is home to numerous sculptures with historical, allegorical, and mythological themes. Continue through this archway until you reach 544 on the far end.
