Drug use & rehabilitation centres
"My boss trusted me and although at some point I began taking money from the cash register secretly, he did not send me away, but wanted to help me. He had a similar experience with a relative and that may have prompted him to be good with me. He urged me to join a drug rehabilitation programme. I did, but I was not yet ready to complete it. When I revealed to my mother that I was a user, she took me back to stay with her and fight it together. It was not easy because I was lost in a lethal habit that turned me into a different person than who I really was. I made a lot of detoxification attempts with no results, until I managed to complete the 18 ANO programme and see my life with different eyes. I spent a very difficult three-year period in the programme. Very difficult, but very beneficial to my future and very beautiful at the same time. It was difficult because I had to deal with myself. All this involved a lot of pain, but when it comes to an end, there is a lot of redemption and peace." Yannis K., former magazine vendor and former guide "Invisible Routes".
