Jewish Cemetery (Starozamojska Street)- The cemetery was probably established in 1623. By virtue of a privilege issued in 1621.It is located near the Sołokija River, at a distance of approx. 250 meters northeast of the market.In 1940, the Germans devastated the necropolis, and paved with matzevot, among other things. The area around the Gestapo headquarters and the sidewalk in front of the house of the German starost of Tomaszow. In 1942. During the liquidation of the ghetto in the area of the cemetery, the Germans carried out a mass execution of the Jewish population.After the war, the abandoned necropolis was subject to progressive devastation, and the local population used it as a pasture. In 1992-1993, thanks to the efforts of Tomasz Jews who survived the Holocaust, the cemetery was restored. Cleanup work was carried out, and the few surviving original tombstones from before World War II (including the oldest from 1720) and concrete dummy tombstones were used to create an arrangement that refers to the typical cemetery layout. A new ohel was built according to a design by Eleonora Bergman, with a fragment of the original matzeva of Tzadik Yosef ben Shimon Grin (d. 1839) and three new stele dedicated to the Tzadikkim of Tomaszow: Yosef ben Shimon Friszerman (d. 1839), Yehoshua ben Yosef Friszerman (d. 1906) and Yosef Ari Leibush ben Yehoshua Friszerman (d. 1916). A memorial to the victims of the Holocaust was also erected in the form of a boulder with a Star of David and three dates: 1623 (founding of the cemetery), 1943 (final extermination of the Jews of Tomaszow), and 1993 (reconstruction of the cemetery). A concrete wall was erected in front of the monument, to which a cast-iron menorah with the inscription was attached: "Bl. p. Jews of Tomaszów."Imitations of nine concrete slabs in the form of stelae were placed around the base. The entire cemetery was surrounded by a fence with a magnificent gate.
