The large temple of Asclepius
it's time to start climbing again—we saved the worst for last. Sixty steps stand between you and the third and final terrace…but why stop now, after coming this far? As the Greek saying goes, “You’ve almost eaten the donkey—why leave the tail?” If you reach the top of the stairs, congratulations. No more steps after this, we promise. Turn around and enjoy a grand vista. Then, turn away from the absorbing scenery and look at the second temple of Asclepius for a few minutes. You can't miss it. It is right before you, a behemoth of volcanic stones neatly arranged in a rectangular foundation against a backdrop of cypresses and pine trees. Find a cool spot that fits your tastes and enjoy the final stories about the Asclepieion.
