Quality first
Roman Aqueduct
Barcelona had its share of fountains and wells, but the Romans wanted more: a reliable supply of fresh, high-quality water for homes, public baths, and workshops. So, they built not one but two aqueducts. The first brought water from the Moncada spring, stretching 11 kilometers, while the second ran 9 kilometers from the Collserola range. Both date back to the 1st century B.C. and remained in use well into the Visigothic era. But over the following centuries, successive sieges by the Ostrogoths, Franks, and later the Moors led to their destruction or abandonment.
