On the rocks
A city upon a hill
I am an Athenian through and through, so I find it only natural that the Cassiopaeans would erect a building to be used for public meetings by the members of their league, a federation consisting of Cassope and three other settlements (Bouchetion, Pandosia, Elatria). This small theater or odeon is built on the natural rock and turns sharply to the northwest, off the main axis of the agora. There are 21 rows of seats carved on the rock and the auditorium is enclosed by a rectangular wall that supported the roof. Theodoros and I had a disagreement as to its capacity. He claims that there is enough space for 350-400 people, while I believe it could accommodate more than 2000.
