Travelling together with Sikelianos
The bust of N. Kazantzakis
In 1910 Kazantzakis was one of the founders of the "Educational Club" association, through which he became friends with the poet Angelos Sikelianos. Together they made many trips seeking "the consciousness of their land and their breed": Athens, Elefsina, Delphi, Corinth, Mycenae, Argos, Tegea, Sparta, Mystras and others. They also traveled to Mount Athos, where they lived for forty days. During this period, he also came into contact with the work of Dante, whom he describes as one of his teachers in his diaries, along with Homer and Bergson.
