The Doges’ portraits (no. 20)
The frieze of the Sala del Maggior Consiglio is decorated with portraits of the Doges. The wall to the right of the Capture of Constantinople features a couple of these portraits. If you count from left to right, you will notice that the first panel is remarkably different. Instead of the face of the Doge, a black veil is painted. This is where Doge Marino Faliero should be depicted (no. 20 in the official audioguide).
